Since 2005, Mario and Fabián have worked to make El Calderito de la Abuela a place where gastronomy and atmosphere come together to create unforgettable moments. Local, Personal and Authentic.
In our organic garden, we grow many of the herbs, vegetables and produce used in our kitchen, while sourcing local products from Tenerife whenever possible. We are committed to fresh, high-quality ingredients and work closely with local producers, allowing us to know the origin of every product and guarantee its freshness and flavour.
This approach to gastronomy allows us to create honest cuisine based on quality ingredients and a deep respect for the flavours of our land in northern Tenerife.

LLÉVAME AL HUERTO
From the garden to a hidden retreat among banana trees and avocado groves.
Llévame al Huerto was created on land that for years formed part of El Calderito de la Abuela’s vegetable garden. While the upper terraces continue to be cultivated, the lower levels have been transformed into a unique space where nature, gastronomy and relaxation coexist in perfect harmony.
Hidden among lush vegetation, this adults-only space invites guests to enjoy cocktails, long after-dinner conversations and moments of relaxation among banana trees and avocado groves in a unique tropical setting.
Since taking over the restaurant, the Torres brothers have truly found their place. Fabián focuses on hospitality and personal service, while Mario leads the kitchen. Together, they work with the professionalism, passion and dedication inherited from their father, Mario Torres.
OUR LOCAL
Discover the unique atmosphere of El Calderito de la Abuela
El Calderito de la Abuela is located in northern Tenerife, in the family building that for years housed the well-known Los Corales restaurant, run by Mario Torres. Today, this space brings together different gastronomic and creative projects, from our restaurant and offices to the Mario Bakes artisan bakery, where we produce handcrafted breads and baked goods.
Our restaurant features a spacious recently renovated glass-enclosed dining room with unique views over the Orotava Valley, the Atlantic Ocean and Mount Teide. Both the main dining area and the bar lounge have been carefully designed to create a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere, perfect for enjoying the gastronomy of Tenerife at an unhurried pace.
You can also enjoy our outdoor terrace surrounded by palm trees, inspired by the Biergarten style and perfect for relaxing throughout the year in northern Tenerife.
THE ESSENCE
The Torres
Since taking over the restaurant, the Torres brothers have truly found their place. Fabián focuses on hospitality and personal service, while Mario leads the kitchen. Together, they work with the professionalism, passion and dedication inherited from their father, Mario Torres.
They enjoy their work just as much as their guests enjoy the cuisine and atmosphere of their restaurants in northern Tenerife: El Calderito de la Abuela, La Bodeguita de Enfrente and Donde Mario. Thanks to the growth of the project and the support of their trusted team, they are able to offer a variety of dining concepts for those looking for authentic and memorable culinary experiences in Tenerife.
Fabián and Mario are now joined by another member of the Torres family: Raúl. After working as a chef in some of the world’s finest restaurants, he now leads the kitchen at Donde Mario in northern Tenerife, bringing a fresh culinary vision to the family business.
