At Calderito de la Abuela, our restaurant in the north of Tenerife, we believe that good cuisine is a combination of tradition and innovation. Above all our purpose is to make you enjoy. In addition, our dishes are based on honesty and the search for flavor through the quality of the ingredients, as a result we try to comfort and amaze you.
Mario and Fabián have been making El Calderito de la Abuela in Santa Úrsula a place where gastronomy and atmosphere come together since 2005 so that your moments there are unforgettable.
Local, personal and authentic.
In our organic garden we grow a large part of the aromatic plants, vegetables and vegetables that we use, and we choose products from Tenerife whenever possible. Therefore, this guarantees us the best quality, and also favors a personal relationship with local suppliers. As a consequence we can visit them and verify the quality of their products for ourselves. That is why we know exactly where our products come from and in this way we can guarantee their freshness and flavour.
We also love using local ingredients when challenged to create new dishes to offer off the menu. Not only do we manage to have fun and contribute to local development, we also manage to surprise our customers and thus make enjoy every dish in our restaurant.
Discover the unique atmosphere of El Calderito de la Abuela
El Calderito de la Abuela is located in the north of Tenerife, on the main floor of the family building where the well-known restaurant Los Corales, by Mario Torres, used to be located. In the same building we also find the ground floor that is occupied by the office and a kitchen where research is done and also created. Also on the mezzanine floor is the recent workshop where Mario Bakes’ breads are made.
Our main dining room is a large glazed area, recently renovated, with unique views of the Orotava Valley and the sea. Both here and in the room attached to the bar, with magnificent views of Mount Teide, we have done everything possible to make you feel at home.
You can also enjoy outside on the new terrace surrounded by palm trees, Biergarten style. What comes the cold? Don’t worry: we have the mushroom stoves waiting for you.
From the moment the Torres brothers enter the restaurant, they are in their element. Fabián focuses on the work of the room and the clients and Mario in the kitchen. Both do it with the professionalism and enthusiasm inherited from their father, Mario Torres.
They enjoy their work as much as their customers enjoy their dishes and the atmosphere of their restaurants in the north of Tenerife: El Calderito de la Abuela, La Bodeguita de Enfrente and Donde Mario. For this reason, Mario and Fabián’s business has grown enough to be able to offer different cuisine alternatives and concepts with the help of their trusted team. They are restaurants where you can treat yourself and return home with an indelible memory.
In addition, Fabián and Mario are now joined by another Torres, Raúl, after having worked as a chef in some of the best restaurants in the world, to lead the kitchen in the new adventure of Where Mario in the north of Tenerife.
